Meet Kellan
Kellan came into an animal control facility completely paralyzed last December from apparently falling down the stairs. The vet noticed a lesion in the lateral x-ray and you can see the vertebrae pressing on the spinal cord. The location is the reason all 4 limbs are affected. He is not in any pain, and our vet believes we should just leave him be; however, we did visit a specialist for another opinion. The specialist said that he will not be able to gain back any of the coordination lost. Over the past year he has made such dramatic improvements that he stands, walks and even runs. However, he still lacks coordination and will fall occasionally. He needs a fenced yard and no more than two steps for going out to potty. He would be fine staying on the first floor inside the house.Kellan is a handsome young Rottweiler who is as sweet as can be. He is housebroken and does not appear to be a chewer. He loves everybody he meets. He is good with all other dogs he has been around and he is around many. He also loves cats. He is very quiet and easy going. Although he is about 2 years old and 100 lbs, he is very calm for his age and just wants to lean against you or get his ears rubbed. Gentle children age 7 and up are okay as Kellan enjoys playing and soaks up attention like a sponge. Kellan continues to enjoy every day and is happy in every way.
