Meet Joy
Joy’s name couldn’t be more fitting because that’s exactly what she radiates! ? This sweet senior girl found herself dumped at the shelter simply for being old—a heartbreaking reality that’s all too common in our area. Confused, scared, and unsure of what she did wrong, Joy sat in her kennel, waiting for someone to see her worth. And we did. With no solid plan but hearts full of determination, we pulled her out of the shelter and into a temporary foster home with our director, Kate. From there, we put out a plea for a foster home where Joy could get the one-on-one attention she deserved—and boy, did she hit the jackpot! ?
Joy is now thriving in her foster home, where she’s being showered with love, belly rubs, and even her very own brand-new orthopedic bed! She came to us with several medical issues that were worsened by the stress of the shelter, including a urinary tract infection and an ear infection, both of which she is now being treated for. But in true chocolate lab fashion, none of that has slowed her down! She is quite possibly the happiest dog we’ve had the pleasure of saving—her tail never stops wagging. ??
Despite some arthritis and difficulty with stairs, Joy will do anything to be near her people. She just wants to be close, snoozing in the same room or following her humans wherever they go. She is so easygoing and an absolute dream to have around. She loves her toys, adores treats, and deserves nothing but love and comfort in her golden years.
Now, she just needs her forever home! ? Joy would be the perfect companion for a senior or a family looking for a laid-back, loveable pup. She’s dog/kid/cat friendly and truly just wants to be loved. She does need a home with minimal stairs (or someone who can help her navigate them), but other than that, she’s the easiest, sweetest girl you could ask for.
