Meet Joxer
Play, nap, repeat.
I am named after Xena's goofy sidekick from the 90's tv show. There is even a song about me if you google it, and itpretty much sums up my personality! I am silly, snuggly, smart and very handsome. I know my basic obedience cuesand a few tricks like pawand roll over. I am crate trained and can happily spend the night in there, or rest safely while you are out of the house. I am housebrokenbut can always benefit from wearing one of my special diapers when introduced to a brand new house or around a new piece of furniture. I am very easy to exercise. I LOVE my walks! I may pull at first, but I typically relax after I go potty. A 20-30 minute walk and some playtime and I'm set! Although I love to play and explore, I spend most of my time snoozing and love pets and cuddles. I do tend to bark at sounds and people/animals from the window, and storms make me anxious. I am smart and food motivated so there is still room for me to grow! I was diagnosed with IMHA (Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia) when I was about 3 years old, but have medication to keep me healthy.
General Socialization Notes:
I do need some time to warm up to new people, and being given treats from new friends certainly helps! If you let me lead the interaction, I tend towarm up quicker.
Does Joxer like other pets?
I am not a fan of cats;however, I love to play and chill with other dogs that are not too big and intimidating, andrespect my boundaries.
Does Joxer like children?
Although I have grown up with kids in my current home, young children make me very anxious.I am at my best behavior and most content around adults and/or responsible teenagers.
Favorite toys:
Fetch and tug-of-war are my favorite games butIlove soft toys andsqueaky balls too.I cannot have antlers or bonessince I have broken teeth on them in the past. You can also give mekong toys that let me find some hydrolyzed protein-friendly treats!I also have a fondness for tissues. You may want to close your bathroom doors to keep me from helping myself to your wastebaskets.
Ideal forever home:
Put me in a fenced yard and I'll show you my sweet Whippet running skills! My dream would be to have a dog sibling that I could play and socialize with every day. I would do best with a home that has at least one person that works from home or is home for most of the day. I need to eat prescriptionkibble and take a pill every morning for the rest of my life in order to stay in remission. Once in a blue moon my face may break out in hives.I do look rather adorable and resemble a duck, but a regimen of Benadryl for several days is all I need. My vet visits over time have sloweddown, but I do needto have my blood checked a few times a year, just to stay on top of my health. I really have a lot of love and companionship to give to the right family for me.
