Meet Jolly
Jolly is a 45lb mixed breed dog with a DOB of 7/11/22. He arrived to us from a rescue in Mississippi that was closing their doors after many years of rescuing dogs! Jolly didn't have a lot of socialization. Jolly has come a LONG way due to his foster family and a wonderful behaviorist that worked with him!
He has a sensitive soul and a sweet, cuddly, medium-to-low energy that just about anyone can appreciate. He is crate trained and house trained. He would be most comfortable in a quiet home, in a quiet setting.
Jolly really does enjoy having another dog in his home. He does however need the slow and proper introduction to his dog friends. Jolly has low confidence while out and about and does not do well when other dogs invade his space. This is where is he has been working with a trainer, He is now able to go out and about with zero issues, with proper introductions. He loves to meet people and dogs while out on his walks. His foster family is really seeing his confidence grow!. He has done wonderful with the cat in his foster home as well!
This is what his dog trainer had to say about him a few months ago:
"He is very dog friendly and can begin his socialization process with dogs. He is hesitant in new settings and needs repeated exposure to gain confidence. He needs more socialization from unfamiliar people, but he is resilient and will improve. His confidence will grow with positive experience
He has a nice temperament, he needs "skills" to learn how to get to things".
We really would love to see him have a fenced in yard at home, so that he can get some additional independent playtime, while feeling secure.
Jolly's adoption will include a meeting with the behaviorist who has worked with him. She has offered to do this, because she has enjoyed working with Jolly and wants to see him find his forever family to call his own!
