Meet JoJo

Hello,

My name is JoJo! I am a 1-year-old, blue female Weimaraner. I have been spayed, vetted, microchipped and in good health.

I came into the rescue mid-October and currently being fostered in Florence, KY. Before I arrived at the rescue, I was living in an apartment. As you probably know, with me being a young Weimaraner I had a lot of energy and anxiety. If my Mom left me in a crate while she was out, I was very vocal and the neighbors were not happy. Then when I was left out of a crate, I was destructive. I am still a puppy, so it really isn’t my fault. I also escaped from doggie daycare by climbing a fence, but really that wasn’t my fault either. There was no human out there with me and I was just looking for them. My Mom was upset to give me to the rescue, but she felt that the living situation wasn't good for me and nothing she tried made it any better.

My foster parents say that I am very sweet and cuddly. I sleep all night cuddled up with my foster Dad until he gets up for work early in the morning. Then I cuddle with my foster Mom.

My foster parents haven't seen any of the separation anxiety or destructiveness when they leave me but that is likely because there are several other high-energy pups here. We play every day until we are completely exhausted. Having an outlet for all this energy seems to make a big difference. My foster parents have cameras to check on us during the day and I'm usually just lying in bed with the other pups resting up to be ready to go crazy when my foster parents get home. I am very good with the other dogs. We play very well together. I have let them know I am upset with them when they steal something I hid under the covers, but I haven't done anything more than growl and snap the air near them.

My foster parents were told I am good around kids and cats but there are neither at my foster home so they can't guarantee this. My foster Dad has noticed that when I get very excited, I start grabbing hands with my mouth. It is obvious that I am not biting but it can pinch a little and might scare someone who doesn't know me. I am working on this.

We went to a Louisville Weimaraner Rescue event a few days after I arrived in the rescue and I did great. I was a little shy with new people at first but after someone gave me a treat, I decided to visit everyone I saw in hopes of getting more.

I seem to be housebroken. I had an accident or 2 when I first arrived but that doesn't seem to be an issue now. I'm settling in and figuring out the routine. I haven't seemed overly stressed. I think being around other dogs that love to play as much as I do has made adjusting to this change much easier.

I would probably do best in a forever home with at least one other high-energy pup that likes to play or with some other way to get a lot of exercise. If I am sufficiently worn out, I am a pretty well-behaved young lady. A fence would also be good, preferably a tall one. My foster home has a 6-foot fence because they've had other escape artists in the past. A shorter fence may be sufficient, but you'd have to keep an eye on me for a while to make sure I don't go exploring.

I have a lot of love to give to someone who knows that I will need a lot of exercise and play time for all my energy. I am ready to find my new home! Is it you?
