Our beloved family friend passed away. He was a true animal-lover.
He would always bring his Blackjack to us, and then his next pup Jilly. He was very passionate about his late wife, his amazing daughter, and his many pets... his crazy mule, cumbersome goats, funny chickens... you name it, he tried it.
His daughter and I were talking at his service about his delicious homegrown Purple Cherokee Tomatoes. That we will never taste those badboys again.
If we saw him outside sitting alone, we would stop and visit. He always had something to talk about.. whether it be going to his favorite Mexican restaurant or going to TN to hang with friends.
He fought a hard road of medical battles the last 5 years, but one thing is for sure, his contagious smile never dimmed.
Many times going into surgery, he would voice is concern for his Jilly, if something happened to him. I promised him that I would always make sure she was taken care of and spoiled the same way he did.
We were saddened to lose such a character and wonderful man.
When I got the call from his daughter, I hung up the phone and drove straight to her house. I was honored to bring Jilly home to decompress and receive the love she so dearly needed during this hard time in her life.
She is doing great with her new friends, and we believe it is her time to explore her next adventure in life.
If you are interested in the adding another friend to your pack, "Jillybean" is looking for her forever family.
She loves all dogs, is house and crate trained, no food aggression, loves kids, loves attention, and going for car rides! Riding in her dad's red truck was her favorite thing to do.
Jilly is 3 yo, apprx 55 lbs, shepherd mix but with manageable fur, spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated.
Her adoption fee is waived to the perfect family.
A fenced-in yard is required to keep her safe!

-Adoption fee (all pets are spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and socialized)
-Zoom call
-Adoption contract
-Travel to Athens, AL to meet your potential new family member. Out of state adoptions are welcomed. We do not ship/transport/meet out of area with our adoption pets. You must come to our Adoption Center to meet them.
*Our rescue staff is diligent to crate train and house train all animals.
