Meet Jett

Meet Jett! Jett is the sweetest, kindest, most loving boy. He has had a terrible start in life. He’s been constantly let down by humans. He is now 2 years old and no one has yet to give him a chance to thrive.

He was found in November 2022 dragging a chain around his neck. He was taken to the Indianapolis shelter, but never claimed. He was adopted once, but returned because he was too much energy. He ended up at IndyClaw to avoid being euthanized at the Indianapolis shelter. Jett is now in foster care and thriving. His foster mom says that he is a perfect dog!

Jett most likely has lived outside his whole life. He has been learning how to crate train and potty train with his foster mom and he is doing EXCELLENT. He is a mix of two very smart breeds (a DNA test was done) so he’s learning quickly! He does know the command ‘sit’ and ‘shake.’ He has gotten really good using a gentle lead collar and prong collar to go on walks. He gets daily walks to practice is walking skills. He recently spent the day out of the rescue with his foster mom and went to a couple parks, sat outside at a restaurant, and went to Home Depot. He did excellent.

He loves his people! He sits and lays in laps. He will sit on a chair or couch and cuddle up with you. We think he’d do well with kids who are used to large dogs. He is 78 lbs. He is very loyal and wants to please his people.

We would love for Jett to have a fenced in yard to run in, but this is not a requirement as long as his adopter understands he will need constant walks. He was originally found with a broken chain on his neck, so we believe a chain or lead line would likely not work for him.

He plays really well with another large dog at IndyClaw and a dog at his foster home, so we think he’d do well in a house with another active/playful dog. He would be fine as an only dog as well. We have also learned that he loves to play in water!

IndyClaw has a “sleepover contract” where Jett would stay with you before officially adopting him. We find that this allows the adopters to make sure he is a good fit and allows them to bring him back if they decide he is not. This rarely happens though!
