Meet Jenna

Jenna is the most lovable dog! She is a gorgeous dark chocolate color with small white patches and all toes are white. Born 10/12/23, She is very affectionate and loves to cuddle. She is definitely a lapdog and an extreme velcro iggy. She was on her foster mom‘s lap within just a few minutes after coming into her home. She follows her around and snuggles close in bed at night and is a great sleeper. She can jump up on the bed easily and loves sleeping with her foster mom and other dogs. When crated, she sometimes soils the crate so she needs a family willing to allow her to sleep in bed.

She is mostly potty trained as long as she’s let out every few hours. If left longer, she will use the puppy pads in the dog’s room. She does have occasional accidents. When crated, she sometimes soils in the crate. She would do best being gated in an area with potty pads when left alone. She will need continued work on potty training.

She is good on a leash and typically in the car. She does whine in the car if it's a longer ride. She gets along fine with her foster mom‘s three IG‘s and loves to play with them. We'd love to find her a home with another small dog so she can play!
She would do best in a home where she can be near her humans most of the time and a no cat household as she chases cats.

Jenna has had some GI problems (loose stools) in her past and has been on B12 vitamin shots - diagnosed with possible cobalamin deficiency but that appears to have been resolved. She could have to go back on B12 pills if symptoms return. A raw dog food diet at her foster mom’s house has seemed to really help. She will need an adopter committed to feeding her this way. She had recurring UTI's as a puppy as well. Both of these issues as a puppy, while learning to house train, made it very difficult for her. House soiling was the reason for surrender. She was very much loved and cared for in her previous home but her older owner was having difficulty house training her. She may never be 100% house trained (most IGs are not) so she needs a home willing to continue to work with her and be understanding and patient with her for life.

Jenna loves to give kisses to everyone and is super friendly to everyone!
She’s spayed and up-to-date on vaccines and HW testing and prevention and microchipped. She gets very anxious at her vet visits and her previous vet clinic prescribed anti-anxiety medicine to take before her appts which seems to help, along with a food distraction. Hopefully with time, work, and less appts in her future, she will not need this medication.

Her ideal home is one where her guardians are home a lot, has another small dog, and a fenced yard to help her with her potty training success. Patience and consistency with potty training is a must as well as breed experience. She does not have experience with children.

Jenna will not be adopted long distance and we will be looking for the best fit for her needs.

Please visit us at midwestigrescue.com to learn more about the adoption process and to fill out an application. We do require an adoption donation fee to help us cover the cost of vetting while they are in our care. This fee varies depending on their age.

Our application process consists of a completed application, vet and two personal reference checks and home visit. We do require that your resident pets be spayed or neutered and have routine veterinary care and check-ups.

Our dogs are available for adoption in Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota within a reasonable drive but prefer local to their foster location if possible.
