Jayne
Pembroke, MA

The man they call Jayne is looking to ship out with his new crew! This pupper is an eager learner who loves to play and train. If you're looking for a fun little buddy who aims to misbehave, read on!

Jayne has been working on foundational skills and would love a home who will continue his training. He is crate trained, and housebroken with proactive potty breaks. He can get a little anxious when he thinks fun stuff is happening without him, but is learning to wait patiently for his turn! He enjoys playing with toys and is happy to engage for food rewards, making him a fun little dude for training sessions. Jayne is an active boy but enjoys hanging out on the couch watching television in the evenings - after he's done dragging every toy out of the toy bin ?

Jayne has been here in foster since the beginning of June, and in that time has gotten a lot of exposure to new people, dogs, and environments. He can be a little overwhelmed in new places, but does well observing from a distance with support from his person. He gets a big confidence boost being around another dog, but is making progress with solo excursions. We are working through some carsickness, but have found a very inexpensive otc anti-emetic that helps tremendously.

Jayne does great with puppies and adult dogs, needing a little guidance here and there. He enjoys playing with his dog friends, but can also settle with a toy or stick and have a good chew on his own after getting over his initial excitement. He's grown into a bit of a cuddlebug here: he will seek out chest scritches and frequently leans up against me when we're hanging out. Jayne has not been formally cat tested, so homes with cats will need to be close enough for an in-person cat test - I expect he will try to chase and play, so he'll need some help learning how to interact properly. He has enjoyed meeting new people in controlled settings, and should be fine with kids 8+.

Jayne weighs roughly 30lbs and is about 5.5 months old at time of writing. He was born to an ACD mom, and his embark test revealed he is primarily ACD with several other breeds mixed in including husky, boxer, and APBT. I anticipate he will remain on the shorter side and likely will top out around 35lbs. While Jayne doesn't exhibit the intensity typical of heelers, his heeler side does come out at times during play. Medium energy for his mix, he is overall on the active side and would love an adopter who will engage with him and give him appropriate outlets to keep him happy and fulfilled!

Jayne is microchipped, fully vaccinated, and up to date on monthly preventatives. He is being adopted out on a neuter contract to allow his puppy body and mind more time to develop. He must meet his potential family prior to adoption in order to help ensure a great match.
