Jack Skellington German Shepherd Dog Mix Durham, NC

Jack Skellington is an attentive love of a dog who is sweet and mellow, and always happy to cuddle on the couch with you or sit at your feet.

He likes other friendly dogs and has happily met some at the dog park. So far, he is more interested in sniffs than playing.

Jack had clearly been through a lot before coming into IAR and is looking for calm reassurance to regain his confidence. He wants to keep one eye on his person and doesn't like to be left in a room by himself. In his foster home he has a doggie buddy and does well when the two of them are left together at home (check them out in one of the photos!). So it would be great if he had a canine companion in his forever home.

Jack also does great with the resident cat! He watches the kitty attentively and will sniff him when he is allowed, but if you just call his name he will leave the cat and come to you!
He is so well mannered and great to train! He walks perfectly on leash and will heel at your left side if you ask him to. He is perfectly house-trained, is learning about his crate and takes his meals in there. He arrived with a habit of hugging a person when they came in the door, but quickly learned to sit for pets instead! He is very happy to see his people return.

Jack has met several groups of polite children and was happy to be petted by them. He will poke you with his nose when he wants attention!

HISTORY
Jack had been lost in a neighborhood, fending for himself for several weeks. He sought the help of people living in an apartment complex and was brought indoors, and soon after into IAR.

HEALTH
Jack is up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative, and is scheduled to be neutered.

PHYSICAL
Jack is a tall, lean, all-black gentleman. One ear stays up all the time, which makes him look jaunty and ready to go! He has a long nose, giant ears, large paws, and a thick tail.
