Meet Jack O Lantern

Jack-O-Lantern(Jack) is a human-centric handsome boy.

He was rescued off an euth list on October 2024 and is thriving in my foster home so far.

Command: he understands ‘Sit’, ‘Come’, ‘Shake’ pretty well, only took me ~1hr to teach him ‘Shake’ and he is food motivated, especially likes raw meat, so he has great potential.

When walking outside, he walks well on leash, receives tons of compliment and pets from pedestrians every day. He also loves to greet and sniff other dogs.

When going on hikes, he shows his athletic side- he climbs rocks, hike in streams, and the list goes on- Great companion for your weekend outdoor adventures! I let him go off leash when allowed, and he follows me pretty well and always surprises me with how sporty he can be!

When at home, he is mellow and quiet, and does 3 things most of the time: sleep/chilling(50%), checking on his human/asking for pets (20%) and chewing his toy(20%). One thing to note is that he can get anxious when he is not with human, but this condition can go away after taking anti-anxiety meds.

With Cats: Jack will do well with cats that ignore dog, since he likes to sniff and groom my cat, who finds that annoying and will swipe at Jack, then Jack will get upset and bark at the cat. (But no aggression involved he just wants to play with cats very much)

With other dogs: Unsure since I did not arrange much socialization to him. Based on what I observe when walking him daily, he is well behaved most of the time: sniffing and greeting, but he can get too excited and curious that he tries to jump on other dogs. Which is NOT an act of aggression in my opinion, and more socialization can help him be more confident and certain around other dogs.

With children: Unsure since Jack never gets introduced to kids, but I recommend him for family with children of 10+ yr based on my observation, since he once tried to jump on a 2.5 feet toddler when I walked him, but I pulled him and he understood why so he stopped doing that.

Pending Neuter Appt from shelter.
