Meet Jack Frost
7-year-old male Papillion/ Chihuahua mix, about 9 pounds. Jack came to us in really rough shape, thin, long nails and with rotted teeth. We suspect he is a bit hard of hearing and likely somewhat sight compromised. He's now healthy with a complete dental. We were told he was 7 yrs by his previous records, but maybe he's a bit older. Jack is your typical independent, a tad grumpy, old soul, who likes to wander the yard, sniff, sleep, EAT and do his own thing. He is the epitome of "Get off my Lawn!" Jack does fine with other dogs, but he is not going to play or interact with them. He will give a correction if a dog is up in his grill or being a pest. He is not a snuggler or a couch dog, preferring to hang out on a dog bed. We suspect he didn't learn that humans were worth hanging out with. He is food motivated, so that might change with SNACKS! Jack needs someone who understands that his sight and hearing issues can make him a bit defensive at times, as he doesn't know what's coming and is surprised often. He has trouble finding his way in low light situations. Jack actually likes to play with toys and play a bit of tug, but once he gets his toy, he can be possessive, so a game of swap or ending the session might be required. Jack likes to go for walks, sniff and explore. He eats and sleeps in his crate, so he has a safe space. He would do best in a home with a yard to sniff, explore and sit in the sun. He is a very quiet boy. Jack thrives on rules and knows who is a push over, so don't be a push over, got it? To request an adoption application, email smidgetrescue@hotmail.com
Adoption contract and fee applies. All adoptable dogs can be met at adoption events hosted every weekend. For a list of scheduled events go to: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/events . Smidget Rescue is not a shelter, and dogs cannot be seen at the Rescue location. All dogs are fostered throughout the Puget Sound area and are brought to the events where they can be met by prospective adopters. Additional pictures of adoptable dogs can be seen at: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/photos_stream?tab=photos_albums. All adoptable dogs are spayed or neutered at 6 months of age or older. Puppies are adopted with a refundable spay/neuter deposit (in addition to the adoption fee) and adopters are required to get their puppy to our vet for their pre-scheduled spay-neuter appointments. APPLICATIONS CAN BE OBTAINED BY EMAIL ONLY. Adoption process includes application, meet & greet, home visit and reference check. Email Jamie at smidgetrescue@hotmail.com or click on the CONTACT link on this page. PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS BEFORE SENDING. 8632781We get a fair number of incorrect emails and Jamie is not able to contact potential adopters. Notice: We do not ship dogs out of state. You must live within a three-hour radius of Seattle, WA, (such as Portland, Vancouver B.C., etc.), so we can arrange for a home visit. If your home seems like a great fit for the dog you would like to adopt, you must then drive to meet the dog at one of our weekend events or at the fosters home.
