Meet Hugo
A striking six-year-old American Bully from Phoenix, AZ, whose muscular frame and captivating blue and fawn brindle coat make him impossible to miss. Beneath his powerful exterior lies a mellow, food-loving companion who’s ready to lounge around the house or yard but also enjoys a good walk when the opportunity arises. Hugo is a smart boy, knowing an impressive set of commands like “sit,” “lay down,” “stay,” “come,” “leave it,” and even “speak.” He’s leash-trained, making walks a pleasure for both you and him.
However, Hugo's journey has come with a few challenges. He has experienced two biting incidents, both of which happened when his personal space was unexpectedly invaded. In one instance, a family member tried to grab his water bowl, startling him. The second time, a loud noise caused him to react when someone leaned over him on the couch. Both situations highlight the importance of respecting Hugo’s space and working with him to overcome his triggers. Hugo has been evaluated by a behaviorist who believes that with time, training, and consistency, he can be rehabilitated. His new family will need to be patient, experienced, and committed to helping him feel safe in his surroundings.
Hugo thrives in a routine that provides structure and stability. He enjoys his meal first thing in the morning and is happy to go for a walk whenever you are. When not out and about, Hugo is content lounging around and keeping things low-key. His calm demeanor and laid-back attitude are some of his most endearing qualities. A fenced yard is a must for him, as he can be a bit too enthusiastic when he spots small animals to chase.
Because Hugo doesn’t get along well with other dogs or cats, he would do best in a home where he’s the only pet. His new pet parent should have the time and desire to continue his training and help him overcome his past triggers, ensuring that Hugo can grow into a confident, well-adjusted companion.
Could you be the one to give Hugo the love, structure, and guidance he needs?
