Hi my name is Howie. I'm about 1 - /2 years old and 35 pounds. I was found as a stray in Kentucky. I had several scabs to show life was not good to me. Being picked up by animal control was the best day of my life because I'm now here to find a better life. Each day my personality blossoms more and more, I am one happy pup now. My tail wags almost all of the time! You should see me run around the yard with a toy in my mouth, like I just one the best prize. I love the freedom and the exercise the yard gives me. Rolling around in the grass is so awesome too. I get along with all my foster siblings and I love to run and play with them. If they are all playing in a group I will stand on the outside of it and give them some barks. Oh, you should hear my bark, it's a high pitch sound that doesn't sound like it's coming from a dog. I love attention and I love to snuggle! Mom and I snuggle on the couch together, it's such a nice feeling to be next to her. Most nights I sleep in bed with her too. Mom is convinced I lived in a kennel based upon some of my behaviors. I poop as close to the fence as I can get, which is a sign I wanted my kennel to be clean. When I'm excited or anxious I jump on the fence post or the vinyl posts to the porch and lick or bite at them. I started jumping at the fence when my foster brother would see the critters on the other side and he goes nuts, me I just jump. I can jump really high, so at least a 6 foot fence would be best, preferably not chainlink. I don't try to get out but I do put my toes in the open links. That may have been how I escaped my former life, I may have finally jumped/climbed the kennel to freedom. If we see someone walking by the house we get on the back of the couch to protect our house. Me not knowing how to deal with the craziness of the other dogs triggers my anxiety, I've turned the TV screen and licked it or I lick the window. I also try to bite them too which did not fair well for the TV screen.....yes, I put a hole in it. Now that is out of my reach. This is an old habit and it will take time for me to break, but everything is possible. It's likely without all the commotion of the other dogs I will be able to keep my behavior in check better. I tend to feed off of them. No invisible fences for me, being shocked would totally freak me out. When mom goes out we all are crated and I am fine with that. I am the sweetest boy and I am looking for a family or person to love me just as much as I will love them. I have not had a good life before now. Since I love my people so much I don't want to spend entire days by myself. I don't need another dog as a companion but if you have one who needs a friend to run around and play with that would be a bonus for all of us. Mom doesn't have any kids around but she thinks I would like them as long as they are respectful and gentle. I haven't had much experience walking on a leash so I will need some help with that. You know I might be a great running partner for you. As for housebreaking, I use the dog door. If you do not have one of those we will need to work on a schedule since this is probably the first house I ever lived in and won't know how to tell you I need to go out. If you would like to meet me I would love to meet you so please visit our website, www.crazypawsdogrescue.com for our meet/greet/adoption process and on-line application which is needed for a meet and greet.
