Name/Nicknames: Hooch, BobbleHead
My Story: Hooch was found as a stray dog in Central Iowa. Brought to a local impound, he waited to be reclaimed but no one came. After several weeks of being up for adoption, Hooch made the trip up to the Twin Cities to find his forever home!
Hobbies: Hooch LOVES carpet! He also loves scratching his back on it- he looks like a cat! More than anything, he loves playing tug of war, just don’t expect to win! He also loves being by his people, taking naps, and going for walks!
Commands/Tricks: Sit, lay down, stay
Crate / Potty Trained:Yes to both!
Activity Level: Low/Medium- For a bully breed dog Hooch is very mellow. With that said- he does need frequent exercise (his foster home takes him for a 3 mile walk at least 3 times per week) and loves a good game of tug-of-war with his foster sister (he always wins!).
Fun things I do: Hooch LOVES to have his big head rubbed. If you start petting his head he will burrow himself into your abdomen to get you to keep going! He also LOVES to rub his back on the carpet; quite the hilarious scene! He plays well with other dogs and enjoys being outside!
Socialization/who I currently live with: Hooch currently lives with a male and female couple and their four-year-old Lab/PitBull mix, Hailee.
My Ideal Family: Hooch's new family should be aware of what comes with owning a "bully breed" dog. During their walks around the park, his foster parents usually get stares from other people because of social stigmas that exist for the breeds Hooch is comprised of. In reality, Hooch is the sweetest dog (several friends of his foster parents have said after meeting him, "I was afraid of "bully breeds" until I met him!"); but his new owners must be comfortable with this "social stigma" and make sure he continues to be a breed ambassador through structure and continued traning. Other than that, Hooch would fit well anywhere- he is calm enough to do fine around young kids, and gets along great with other dogs!
