Meet Hogan!

Hogan is a stunning 2-3 year old English shepherd with all the typical herding dog traits. This means he's smart, highly trainable, loyal, and athletic, but needs a job. He thrives on mental exercise like food puzzles, clicker training, or nose work.

Medical: Hogan was recently returned to the shelter after he developed epilepsy, and his family felt that they couldn't give him the care that he requires. He has to take medication twice a day, and when unsupervised should be kept in an area where he can't hurt himself (no access to stairs, for example). He tends to have seizures several days each month, but the seizures typically don't require any intervention, and most days he's seizure free and happy. We hope his medical condition won't hurt his chances at finding a loving forever home. Due to the maintenance medication that Hogan is on, he will routine bloodwork every 6 months.

Hogan is house trained, walks well with a Gentle Leader head collar, knows sit and down, and is learning "go to your mat." A fenced in yard is recommend for him. Hogan would do best with older kids due to his size (about 65 lbs.) and tendency to be rowdy when he plays. We recommend a home without cats because he enjoys chasing them. The other dogs in his foster home say he can be a bit rude and clueless in his interactions with them, so he might do best as an only pet. A meet and greet would be required if you have other dogs in your household.
