Love the breed but don’t have the time or ability to devote to hours of daily exercise with a young dog? Hobo may be the perfect dog for you! His wide and crazy days are behind him, and he doesn’t need the extensive activity he once did. Hobo was found as a stray in Georgia before coming to ACDRA. He’s a true-blue cattle dog – loyal, confident, focused and smart. Hobo is very friendly and loves nothing more than to be with his people. He is approximately 7-9 years old, neutered, housebroken, heartworm negative, and up to date on all vaccinations and preventatives. He weighs 43 lbs..

Hobo is dog friendly; he currently lives with a foster sister who normally isn’t a fan of other dogs, but he seems to have charmed her. If she gets snarky, he just backs off. Cats are unknown so no cats or dog-savvy cats only. Because he can get mouthy and loves to herd, no small children. 12+ years only. He’s not overly friendly with strangers immediately, but he easily accepts them coming into the home without any drama.
Hobo is still an active guy of medium energy. One or two short walks a day and/or throwing a ball in the yard and he’s good. Hobo walks nicely on leash and rides well in the car. He would be fine as either an only dog or in a multi-dog home. He has no separation anxiety and can be left loose in the house when his people are gone without any shenanigans occurring.

The only negatives are his hearing and arthritis. He has very limited hearing, but regardless he always seems to know when you get up, even if he has his back to you. No sneaking around behind this guy! As far as arthritis, you wouldn’t even know it to see him at home. He just can’t be a hiking or long distance walking companion, and will require supplements to maintain a good quality of life.
Hobo’s perfect home would have a fenced yard, due to his hearing issues, with someone who walks or plays with him daily. I can’t say enough good things about this dog! He’s a great dog who deserves a great home to spend the rest of his life with.
