Behavioral Information:
@with some Dogs:
He would likely do well with another single dog who is mellow in nature and close to his size or smaller. He doesn't get along with young, intact male dogs.
@ with Kids: No children under 15 years old
@ with Cats: Has had no experience with cats
@Energy level: Medium
@Potty-trained: Yes
@Chewing:
When Hobbes is anxious and alone, he tends to find a blanket and chew on it, creating holes.
Barking: Only prone to barking when people arrive at the house, or walk/drive by the driveway.
Resource Guarding: If he ever gets a treat that is larger than he can eat in one bite, he will take the treat and hide it, and is possessive if you try and get it away from him.
@Outside World:
Hobbes hates skateboards or anything with wheels, like a bike or scooter. He is also afraid of cars. He can be reactive to those things and sometimes chase them if they come along too quickly for him. He doesn't like (and is afraid of) balls, toys, and water. He seems afraid of the waves and water in general.
Animals Outside: He has never chased any animals, and doesn't seem to care about horses, cats, deer, birds, or rodents, but he absolutely hates flies and will bite them in midair.
@ with Visitors: His favorite place to be is under tables or chairs. He feels safe there and will seek out every opportunity to find those locations.
Unfortunately, that is where he will attack visitors’ ankles/feet. He has broken skin on two occasions in the last 2 years. He is fine with his own family and only does this to house guests. We are looking for a family willing to work on fixing this behavior, or alternatively keeping him away from anyone new entering the home if unable to resolve it.
----------------------------------------------------
We are looking for a very loving family that fits the following requirements:
1. Lives in the Lower Mainland B.C.
2. Has a house with a fenced yard.
3. Must be an experienced dog owner and preference will go to a family that has experience with collie/ herding breeds due to his ankle biting behaviors.
4. We prefer to home Hobbes to a home with no other pets. However, if his new family has a dog, the dog must be submissive and have no resource guarding issues.
5. No children under 15 years old.
6. You are committed to provide a forever loving home to Hobbes
7. Prefer a family that will not leave him alone for long periods during the day (no more than 5 hours).
8. Must be allowed on your couches or bed.
9. You are committed to provide "good quality” dog food.
10. The adoptive family must be provide daily exercise at least 1 hour twice a day.
11. Understanding/ experienced with herding behavior when has visitors inside house and capable to handle the issue.
12. Hobbes needs a quiet home with 1 to 2 persons and perhaps a calm dog. Somewhere that he can relax. He will not enjoy a busy household.
