Meet Hans

Hans IS AVAILALBE (updated 06-30-2024).To meet any of our dogs you must first complete our online adoption application on our website. For more information and the adoption application for Hans, please visit our website belowhttp://www.coastalgsr.org/dog_profile.php?ID=22524&name=HansHans sat at a county shelter patiently waiting for his owners to come and get him but after two months they never came. He didn't understand what happened; had he done something wrong? Confused, he just sat and waited. And then he ran out of time. Fortunately Coastal GSR stepped in and brought him into their rescue family. Confused by his new surroundings at first, he quickly settled in to a new routine surrounded by a bunch of new friends, regular walks, occasional snacks, and lots of interesting things going on around him in the kennel. Nicknamed 'Handsome Hans' by one of our partner veterinarians, Hans is indeed very good looking. Plus he is big and energetic. He LOVES walks, sniffing out exciting new smells and dog cookies!Hans recently went into a foster home where there are multiple medium and large dogs of various ages. He used to be dog reactive but since working with his new fosters, he is like a new dog! He's gained weight, plays with toys, and gets along with the dogs in the home. His overall mental health has changed for the better since he was removed from a kennel environment. He is enjoying life, walks, and being in a family situation. We are not sure how he would be with young children or small dogs so a perfect home for Hans would have older children/young adults or just adults. With proper introduction, he would be good with another large dog(s) or would be happy in a home being the only dog too.The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
