Meet Hammy-* adopted *

Hammy is a male Pomeranian that's about 7 years old and was an owner surrender. Weight 5 pounds.
?Note his front left leg is deformed. His leg was broken prior to coming to us and they never took him in for medical attention. He gets around ok with it, but only other option would be amputation. Hammy will need medication in his senior years as he will have arthritis issues from this injury.
When he arrived at the rescue with two other Pomeranians from the same home, they didn't have any history of being to a vet. First stop what updated shots and an exam. His teeth had lots of tartar and will be cleaned during neuter procedure. The second stop was a grooming appointment. Hammys coat was so matted it was causing sores on his body. The groomer wanted to save as much of the coat as possible. It was impossible with the matted hair pulling at the skin. So she needed to shave the entire coat so he could have some relief.
*We dont promote shaving double coat dogs, but this was a matter of giving Hammy relief from the painful matted hair
*Thank you Lacey at Kona's Edge for the professional grooming. Hammy now has a wardrobe of many sweaters to keep him warm.
Hammy was not neutered when he arrived so he has been wearing a belly band to keep him from marking on things in the house. Once he is neutered, and consistent outdoor breaks, hoping the house training improves.
Hammy is in a foster home with small dogs, and cats. He is learning how to go outside for potty breaks and adjusting to new surroundings.
All medical work is completed prior to adoption including neuter shots worming flea treatment rabies shot kennel cough micro chip grooming dental cleaning and vet examination.
The adoption fee is $200 + tax with an approved application. The pre-adoption application is available on the website www.prairiepawsrescue.com.
