Gypsy Akita Chardon, OH

Gypsy comes to us from a shelter who picked her up as a stray. Her exact age is thus uncertain, but both our volunteers and the vets who have examined her estimate her to be between 1.5 and 2 years old. Our vet said she has perhaps the best looking and whitest set of teeth she has seen. She is a very very lean but otherwise healthy 70 pounds from her time on the run, and is now working on filling out her long and tall frame. Her soft coat is matched with a major league bushy tail. She gets a lot of “beautiful dog!” comments from passersby on her walking trail.

Gypsy is athletic and can cover a lot of ground in a little time. Still, she is easy to walk and responds well to the few commands she has already learned —sit, down, come, and no! Her down stay is a work in progress. She is a curious and adventurous youngster, easily distracted as youngsters are by everything there is to see, smell, and hear. She loves to play, and seeks human interaction and affection. She will be happiest as the only dog in your household. She like car rides, but favors the front seat over the back, and when confined to the back seat likes to lick the driver’s ear to get their attention and permission to come forward. Her favorite new treat is cheddar cheez whiz, and she doesn't care at all that it contains no cheese.
