Meet Gypsy
Gypsy is a Shepherd mix who has a sad but incredible story. On September 11th, a good Samaritan called the shelter to report a dog who was apparently living at Makepeace Lake in Hamilton Township. A shelter employee who lived nearby went out to the area and found this skinny, flea infested dog living under a trash bag that was being held up by branches. Gypsy approached with caution but was happy to be getting treats. Once at the shelter she was given flea meds., vaccinated and heart worm tested. Today during her temperament evaluation a microchip was found. When the company was called we were told that the chip was given to Gypsy 8 1/2 years ago.....in IRAN! Sadly they could not give us an owner's name, only that the chip was given as a courtesy through an unknown clinic. Gypsy passed her temperament evaluation but she is still a bit timid and would do best in a quiet home, perhaps with a senior person or couple. This poor dog has been through so much that we know of and now we can only imagine what life must have been like for her in Iran and her journey here to the United States. Someone was definitely watching over this sweet creature and she deserves a loving and permanent home. Gypsy's file # is 11-3402.
