Meet Gwen, the tripawd Staffie

Looking for a calm, quiet low-key companion? Consider our special girl, Gwen!

Gwen's front left leg was amputated due to multiple untreated, poorly healed breaks that caused her great pain. She is now happy and comfortable and gets around well on her remaining 3 legs.

Gwen is a social butterfly and loves everyone she meets. She is polite and calm and happy to hang out with her people. She can also be left alone (no destruction or barking).

Because of her history (running loose, in pain, bred and pregnant -- she had milk when she was picked up), she sees most other dogs as threats. She would probably do best as an only dog.

But, boy, what a great house dog she is! She is very quiet, mildly protective, house-trained, and non-destructive (unless it's a dog toy, then game on!). She is a loving, affectionate companion who smiles when she's happy!

Because Gwen is now tripawd, she requires some special considerations. She enjoys roaming a fenced yard, following her people around, and walking short distances. She cannot and should not go on long walks or hikes. But she LOVES riding in a wagon, sitting on a porch, and baths!

Gwen is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and "fun sized" (37 lb). Her lower back sometimes "slips" (bad breeding, like with hip dysplasia), so it's good to keep Carprofen on hand in case she gets sore. Regular, low-key exercise keeps her muscles strong and her back in good shape. Wiggling in the grass counts!

All adoptions are by appointment only. If you are interested in meeting Gwen, please request an application via a Petfinder inquiry. An application will be emailed to you to complete and return. After that, an officer will contact you.

All adoptions are $10. In California, dogs are required to be licensed in their county of residence. Please also consider making a donation to FOCCAS (Friends of Colusa County Animal Shelter) to help offset the costs associated with her medical care.
