Meet Ginger and Lola
Our lovely ladies, Ginger and Lola, are a pair of bonded siblings, who recently joined us from a Pittsburgh Animal Control facility. Their elderly owner became ill, and was unable to care for them any longer. At the request of Eskie Rescuers United, Pilots and Paws Volunteers flew Lola and Ginger to us at Hartford's Bradley Airport.
Ginger and Lola are miniature Eskies, weighing 22 lbs. Just four years old, these beautiful girls look like identical twins. We color coded the leashes to tell them apart: Ginger has a yellow leash and Lola has a green leash. The girls are completely bonded, and we're seeking a home for them together.
Ginger and Lola seem shy at first, and take a few minutes to warm up. We're seeking patient Eskie people willing to work through some shyness issues that these girls have in socializing and fearfulness at the vet. Seems as though their owner thought acquiring a pair of siblings would relieve her of some of the responsibility of socializing and training them. Indeed, most dogs enjoy the companionship of their own kind, but nonetheless, the human owners need to follow through on their responsibilities to raise well adjusted dogs. As time passed, these sheltered beauties grew more comfortable with each other than with people, and in the lack of obedience work and general training, they settled into a world of their own.
Ginger and Lola would be best suited to an active single or couple, who enjoy the meaningful, small, incremental rewards of working with shy rescue dogs. They are excellent companion dogs, and are affectionate with adults, but wary of the quick, unpredictable movements of small kids. We would love to see other dogs in the home that we select for Lola and Ginger, because a well-balanced, sociable dog will inspire them. We think they could do well in a feline household, as well.
Our Eskie sisters can be a little unfocused on obedience training, Ginger perhaps more so than Lola, but with patience they will come along nicely, and certainly would be able to achieve their Canine Good Citizenship certification. They have slightly nervous temperments, and are fearful and slightly hysterical at the vet, but they respond beautifully to patient touch.
Ginger and Lola are house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during their transition to a new home. They are in optimal health, and have been recently spayed. They have been vaccinated for rabies, DHLPPC (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis parvo, parainfluenza and coronavirus), and canine flu. They have been boostered as needed. They have had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. They have been dewormed, and microchipped.
