Meet Ginger
Ginger
Dachshund Mix
DOB: 6/23/2024
Female
Unaltered due to age
Ginger was rescued in Puerto Rico with a sibling at a school sports area.
Personality: If you’re looking for a sweet natured pup who is down for anything, look no further than Ginger. This Sato mutt packs a big personality into a tiny body. Give her a minute to warm up and you will experience her enjoying every aspect of life, from zoomies in the yard to snuggles on the couch. She sure knows how to win you over, even if you’re not typically a little dog kind of person.
Interests: Ginger stays busy collecting toys. She can spend hours wrestling her stuffies, squeezing her squeaker toys, and gnawing on chew sticks. Make room on the couch for Ginger - she loves to curl up in your lap and watch anything from football to baking shows! Ginger would make a delightful travel companion. She’s easy going and pint sized, plus she’s had some experience traveling via plane and car to arrive her from Puerto Rico through the Sato Project.
Crate Training: Ginger has found the crate as a place of safety and comfort. She sleeps through the night in her crate (sometimes she protests her bedtime for a few minutes before settling, and other times she actively puts herself in her crate for naps).
Potty training: Ginger is getting the hang of potty training. As with most puppies, she will require consistency, positive reinforcement, and patience as she masters this skill. Ginger makes an effort to go potty outside or on a potty pad, but lapses in close supervision do occasionally lead to accidents in the house. Give her some time, and she will continue to improve on her bathroom manners.
Dogs: Ginger has a disposition that makes her a fantastic companion to humans and canines alike. Being fostered with a large resident dog has encouraged her to learn boundaries and read canine cues. She holds her own when it comes to play, and vocalizes when things get too rough for her. In social settings, she gravitates towards smaller dogs, but happily engages with any dog she meets.
Cats: Ginger is fascinated by cats. She gently invites the resident cat to play with her (and is often told no). She can be a bit chatty when the cat is in her direct line of sight, but she is quickly redirected by the cat’s lack of interest.
Kids: Ginger has yet to meet kiddos, but would likely excel in a home with responsible kids that can be trusted not to drop her or rough house her too much. Like most puppies, she’s curious about new household items, so kids should be encouraged to put away their toys.
The Adoption Fee (Tax Deductible Donation) for Ginger is $500.
