Can't adopt but want to help? Please contact sueb@homewardtrails.org to find out about sponsorship, fostering, and other ways you can help this animal! Please note that financial sponsorship will be applied to the specific animal you indicate unless it is not needed, at which time we will let you designate it for another HT animal of your choice.
You can save animals like Georgia by becoming a foster! Fosters are like way stations between high kill shelters and forever homes. We need fosters so that we can save dogs before they are euthanized at the shelters, so that they have more time to find a permanent family. If you are interested in becoming a foster, please check out our information about fostering animals.
Want to meet a handful of dogs in person? Check out a list of our upcoming pet adoption events.

This adorably sweet girl is Georgia. Georgia has a really, really, really rough life lately. She was found hobbling along the side of the road with her two pups. She clearly had been hit by a car a while back, as her leg had been broken and she holds it up to hobble on three legs. She has scars on her back, missing fur and a sad look. But despite her bad injury, she still somehow managed to get along and take care of her pups. She is AMAZINGLY sweet.
Georgia is just back from the vet. Poor Georgia is positive for heartworm, lyme and erlichia (all treatable) and will certainly need her leg amputated...but that won't stop sweet Georgia. She gets around quite well and even does stairs.Georgia's pup, Gia, has stunning blue eyes and is very sweet. Gia is also available for adoption.Georgia needs a special home who can give her all the love in the world and help her adjust to a good life. She will only have three legs so that may require a special family...but already, you'd be surprised at how well this girl gets along. She will be spayed and vaccinated before adoption. We need to raise the $2,000 it will take to get Georgia treated and to have her leg amputated. Can't adopt? Then consider a donation of any size to help this sweet girl. She deserves it!
The adoption fee for this dog is $275, which helps with the cost of routine vet care, as well as spay/neuter surgery.
If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our dog adoption questionnaire and e-mail it to sueb@homewardtrails.org.
