Gage is a really remarkable dog. He first came to us as a terrified and undersocialized puppy, refusing to walk on a leash and crawling about on his belly. He was a sad pup! Fast forward about 9 months and he is a dog transformed! He fought off a tough intestinal infection and overcame his fear. He has learned to trust people and enjoy life to the fullest.   Gage is affectionate and silly, a complete fetch machine, and a bit of a class clown. He's a dog reborn and has a great spirit. Gage lives everyday to the fullest. He knows several commands including sit, crate, and down, and he is a professional retriever. He will fetch until you cannot throw any longer and will ignore everything else going on if there's a chance to chase a ball.    He is a sleek, muscular dog and completely reliable off-leash. We are working with Gage to walk with a Gentle Leader because he has overcome his fear of leashes in spades and is now quite the powerful puller.    This friendly, affectionate boy is a real eye-catcher. His very short coat is maintenance free. He would enjoy an active lifestyle. He enjoys trips riding in the car, hiking, camping, and snuggling on the couch. We also think Gage could be a great bird dog in the hands of an experienced trainer.   Gage is housetrained and can be trusted with free roam for short periods of time.
