Meet Gage
Male | Manitoba Mutt | 19 lbs | 13 weeks | UTD on shots | Good with dogs
Rescued from: Northern Manitoba
Currently being fostered in Toronto, ON
Background :
Gage was rescued from a community in Northern Manitoba with the assistance of K9 Advocacy Manitoba and took his freedom flight with 4 other puppies at the end of February. He has been in foster care since then, learning the ropes of the big city and thriving, now he’s ready to find his furever home!
Personality:
Meet Gage! This energetic and playful pup is full of life but knows how to relax when it’s time to recharge. Living in a busy downtown environment, he’s confident and enjoys people-watching, staying calm around noises, crowds, and other dogs. On walks, he’s neutral toward other dogs but enjoys playtime with his doggy friends, showing great social skills. Gage loves chew toys, interactive games, and, of course, treats—especially frozen celery!
Ideal Home:
Gage is an adaptable pup who would do well in any home! Living downtown, he’s been exposed to busy streets, loud noises, and minimal green space—and he’s handled it all wonderfully. While some loud sounds startle him, he recovers quickly. He’s a high-energy dog who thrives on a play-nap routine, balancing bursts of activity with well-earned rest. Gage loves zooming around the house, enjoys running during walks, and is obsessed with interactive and chew toys of all kinds. Because Gage is likely to grow up to be a higher energy dog, a family with an active lifestyle and older children would be ideal.
Training/Activity:
Gage is highly food-motivated, making training a breeze! He’s learning commands like sit, down, crate, come, stay, and heel through hand-feeding and positive reinforcement. While he can be a bit timid around men at first, he gains confidence with space, patience, and treats. He hasn’t been around children or other pets but remains neutral when encountering dogs on walks. With slow, positive introductions—especially to taller men—he’s sure to thrive. Gage would do best in a home that provides gentle guidance and continued training to help him continue to build confidence.
Summary:
Since arriving to Toronto, Gage has made amazing process, coming out of his shell and letting his silly personality shine! He’s making great progress with training, learning commands through hand-feeding and reinforcement. Gage thrives on activity—whether it’s playing, zooming around, or interactive toys—but also enjoys his nap time. If you’re looking for an energetic yet adaptable companion who’s eager to learn, Gage could be the perfect match!
