Meet Gabriella
Gabriella (aka Gabi) is a 7-month old female German Shepherd mix puppy (most likely Husky) who was surrendered to one of our animal shelter partners, as her family could no longer keep her. As she was having some difficulty adjusting to shelter life, we agreed to bring her into our organization to find an appropriate home for this sweet pup.
Gabriella has adjusted well in her foster home. She is very sweet and loving with her people, and on the flip side, turns into Gabi, a sassy, energetic adolescent. She appears to be house trained, and crate trained. She is just learning the rules of the house, and what the expectations are. Being already crate trained, she sleeps all night in her crate without issue. At the shelter, she was intimidated by a strong willed Malinois but is integrating herself into her foster pack nicely. She has a rough play style, and can be a bit dominant at times, but settles down when corrected. She has begun to show some interest in toys, and loves to play keep-a-way with her foster mom. She is also doing great with leash walking but will need more instruction in this area. Gabi had her first visit with our vet partner, and did fabulous. She was very friendly, allowed all handling, no reaction to any of the vaccinations given, and, of course, loved those liver treats and peanut butter!!
Gabi will require an active, committed and loving human who will make her a part of the family, providing the care and attention that every young pup needs.
Gabi will make a wonderful companion for the right family. Only older dog-savvy children 8 and above in an adoptive home will be considered. As she has a very high prey drive, no cats or small animals.
It will be necessary for an adopter to have recent successful experience in raising a GSD, Belgian Malinois, Dutch Shepherd, or other large breed working puppy (husky experience a plus). An adopter who will begin and continue her obedience training based upon positive reinforcement is recommended (with appropriate corrections for unwanted behavior), to ensure she remains on the path of a well-behaved canine companion.
