Gabbana Mastiff Columbus, OH

Meet Gabbana. Gabbana was surrendered to us by an owner who kept her outside on a chain. She said she rescued Gabbana 2 years from "a bad situation" as a puppy. We believe she lived on that chain ever since. She has some scaring on her ears from flystrike, but no other health concerns.

Gabbana is a short mastiff, the owner said she was a purebred breed of mastiff that she couldn't pronounce. She is short and thick. She is a little underweight right now at 75 lbs and she has a beautiful tan and faded black fur pattern.

Gabbana is a very sweet girl who needs to gain some confidence in the world around her. She is overly timid but once she warms up to you she becomes your shadow. She was surrendered with a chihuahua named Dolce, and seemed to gain confidence the most around her. Unfortunately Dolce did not feel the same way and was not very nice to Gabbana so we separated them. The owner had only had Dolce for 2 months so they were not bonded.

Gabbana has done well with Dolce and has met a few other dogs and did well but needs a slow introduction until she gains more confidence in her surroundings. She has barked at dogs while in her crate but we think that was related to her being afraid of being in our office and decompressing from her drastic change in lifestyle. As time has progressed she has come out of her shell a little more each day we see her.

Gabbana has not been cat tested but we were told she does well around kids. She is a gently giant, but she is very big so we suggest her to go to a home with older kids, if any.

Gabbana is currently staying in a boarding facility until a foster home becomes available. Since she has not lived in a home we do not know if she is house trained, however she has not had any accidents while at our office and would walk over to the door when she needed to go potty. Requirements for Adoption:

**Must be over the age of 24 to adopt.
Your resident pets must be spayed/neutered.?
**There is an adoption agreement and adoption fees are as follows:
$300 for Adult Dogs
$100 for Cats

Adoption Process:
**We do not have an application. Adoptions are pet-adopter driven.
To meet our pets: Call our office at 614-471-9000 or click on the pet which you
are interested in and send email.
**We are happy to discuss the adoption process. The foster dogs are in foster
homes and most of the cats reside at our office.
**The adoption process includes a lease manager reference (if applicable) , a
veterinarian reference, and a home-visit (in-person or virtual).
If you've never owned a pet, part of our adoption process requires that you call
several vet offices to compare services, prices, and availability. Questions to ask
include:
How many doctors are at your practice?
Can I request to see a specific Vet or would I be scheduled with first available?
What are your hours?
How much is: annual exam, heartworm test & tablets, an x-ray, vaccines, a
non-emergency office call?
What vaccines do you recommend for dogs (or cats) in this area?
**The pooch that visits your home will go back home with us to allow your family
to discuss and ensure he/she is a good fit for your home.?
**All pets are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm tested
(dogs), FIV/leukemia tested (cats), & micro-chipped.
**Known medical conditions are discussed at time of inquiry.
