Meet Frito
Hi – I’m Frito! As you can see from my pictures, I am a master of lounging on the couch and begging for belly rubs with my gorgeous puppy-dog eyes! I must admit that I was a bit shy when I met my foster family, but I’ve learned that they’re the source of lots of great things – love, affection, and the aforementioned belly rubs! And I’m much happier now than I was when I was found running loose and taken to a shelter.
At a year and a half old, I’m a young fellow and still have some playful puppy energy. Foster mom says I must have at least twenty toys, (and to be honest, I wouldn’t mind having a few more)! Squeaky toys, stuffed toys, balls…I love them all and I usually have one of them in my mouth so I can entertain myself.
Like any true beagle, I love food! As a matter of fact, I eat so quickly that foster mom puts my food into a puzzle bowl to help me slow down and enjoy my meal. Right now, I only weigh 20 pounds, so she thinks I could stand to gain a couple of pounds.
I enjoy hanging out with the four resident beagles here, and we all get along wonderfully. A home with other dogs would suit me just fine, and so would a home where I’m the only dog but can have lots of human attention.
At night, I sleep in the big bed with the humans – I am not a fan of being crated. During the day, I have free rein of the house, and I do very well – I know how to be a good boy! Speaking of which, I’m also a very good boy in the car – I ride calmly and quietly during our short trips around town.
I’m housebroken with the use of a doggy door, and I don’t have any accidents in the house. I’m learning to walk on a leash, and while I’m still a bit timid, I’m getting the hang of it and will go potty when I’m out for a walk. My new family will need to take care while walking me, though, because I’m startled by loud noises. I will need a securely fenced-in back yard for me to enjoy my time outdoors in as well.
There are some unknowns about me – for instance, I’ve never really been around kids or cats, but foster mom thinks I would do okay with them. But foster mom definitely knows (and I do, too) that I’m a sweet little guy and I will be a wonderful companion in my forever home!
NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
