MEET JAKE FOSTER IN CLOVER SC
Jake – Fostered in Clover, SC
Jake is a 2–3-year-old terrier mix, weighing about 62 pounds. He was saved from Gaston County Animal Shelter the day he was scheduled to be euthanized. He was very shut down and scared in the shelter environment, and the shelter staff brought him into the office where he relaxed and enjoyed a fluffy bed.
He is amazing in his foster home, but we discovered he has an extreme fear of some men. He is not aggressive, but he cowers, shakes and tries to run away. He won’t eat or take treats when he is in that fear mode. We have spent several months trying to work through his fear, and there is still no clear understanding of what men he finds terrifying and what men he can be around. For that reason, we are looking for a female-only home for him.
He still startles on occasion at loud noises or unfamiliar things, but he is most often quite the love bug and cuddle buddy. He knows his basic obedience, walks well on a leash, takes treats gently, and is crate trained. He loves other dogs of all sizes and enjoys playing outdoors. He sleeps on his foster mom’s bed at night, and he is crated when she goes to work during the day a few days a week. He loves car rides and loads up easily. He loves balls, chewing on his bones, and stuffies. He doesn’t de-stuff his stuffies, but he does chew on them until they are soggy. He is just an all-around great dog.
Jake is healthy, UTD on his shots, on HW/Flea meds, and neutered. He is on a daily regimen of Prozac which has helped with his anxiety so he can relax and not engage in destructive chewing in his crate. He is an absolute perfect boy for the right female only home.
Meet and greets with Jake will be based on approved adoption applications, vet references and home visit.
