MEET FRANKIE

This super sweet, handsome fella will make you the center of his universe, but he desperately needs a special person or family who will be able to handle a pup with anxiety issues. Our precious Frankie is an approximately 3 ½ -year-old Shepherd / Hound mix, and he is absolutely adorable! Bless him, he is just a work in progress and needs lots of love and patience for him to become the best version of himself. He has a gorgeous dark caramel brown soft coat streaked with black highlights, darker ears, black around his nose, and the tiniest bit of white on his back two paws – almost like he managed to just dip them in a bit of paint! Frankie is a medium-sized dog weighing about 36 pounds and he has a sweet, fun, and loving personality.

Originally, Frankie was pulled from our local animal shelter where he had been picked up as a stray and no one came to claim him. He was adopted after being at the HSWA facility for several months, but he is now back with us after it became impossible for his family to leave him for any amount of time without him destroying something. While Frankie is truly heart-meltingly sweet, he suffers from severe anxiety and separation anxiety issues. He does not like to be confined in a small space (i.e. a crate) and prefers the ability to move from indoors to outdoors. He is currently in a kennel at the HSWA that has indoor/outdoor access, so that has helped his anxiety a great deal.

Frankie is also very social and loves to be around other dogs…his former family was great about taking him to a local dog camp frequently, and Frankie was happy and content to play with other dogs. A family with another dog, or dogs, would probably go a long way toward helping ease his separation anxiety.
When Frankie is relaxed and comfortable, which is most of the time, he is eager to meet new people, and once he knows you are his friend, you will find yourself on the receiving end of lots of love and kisses! Frankie has a sweet, friendly, happy-go-lucky disposition and loves to be the recipient of any kind of attention…in fact, he will flop down right in front of you and roll over so you can rub his tummy (it’s his favorite thing in the world!). He doesn’t seem to be overly interested in toys, but he loves to be in the yard.

Frankie will do best in a home with a doggy door and fenced in yard that will allow him the freedom to go in and out as he pleases. He will also do better in a home with other dogs. Frankie has all the criteria for a wonderful family pet, and he is great with children. Frankie is up to date on his vet care, is heartworm negative, is microchipped, and has been neutered. He is on heartworm and flea/tick prevention.
