Meet Ford! Ford’s foster describes his as sweet and spunky! Ford came into our care after he was found by our rescue partner in Tennessee alone with his siblings. Ford is now fostered locally and is getting ready to meet his forever family.

Ford loves to snuggle and give hugs and is described as a very sweet boy. Some of his favourite activities are chewing, running around, and playing with his foster siblings. Being a puppy, Ford has a higher energy level and requires regular exercise. He walks well on a leash and loves to run and play in the yard. He does not like going to the bathroom on his leash and will try to avoid it. He is doing very well with potty training but may have a few accidents in new environments. He is nervous when walking on the street and gets scared easily.

Ford is sometimes nervous when meeting new people. His fosters believe he is most comfortable meeting people in his own home where he is most confident. His fosters are actively working with him on his confidence and he is making great progress. Ford has met children as young as three and did very well with them. However, he is still a puppy and proper precautions should be taken to ensure the wellbeing of all family members. Ford's new family will need to ensure slow and proper introductions to new people and dogs. Ford is making leaps and bounds with his confidence and is highly adaptable.

Ford is currently living with two canine foster brothers and gets along with them very well. He enjoys the company of other dogs and gets confidence and guidance from them. We believe he would do best as the second (or third!) dog in a household. He has not yet been tested with cats.

Ford has been left alone for up to four hours and has done well. He is left in his crate and cannot yet be trusted free reign as he can sometimes chew and try to ingest his toys though he is learning what he is allowed and not allowed. He sleeps well in his crate at night and settles very quickly.

Ford is working on basic training and recall. He loves his treats and learns quickly however being so young he will need ongoing support from his new family. As a condition of the adoption contract, Ford's new family will be required to attend and complete a basic obedience class at their own cost (proof required).

Ford's ideal forever home is a house with a yard outside a busy downtown core. He would do best with other dogs in the home. He is looking for a patient family that will include him in their daily lives and activities, and support him with ongoing training and confidence building. Ford is a lovely boy who is waiting for his perfect forever family. We believe that with the right family, his confidence will show, and he will truly shine.
