Meet FLANARY-JJ (RIPON CALIF)

NOTE: This boy has vet appointments to be completed, so we are, taking applications and screening but he cannot go to his new home until about the second week on September. We will consider a foster or foster with intent to adopt. He needs to be in a new home soon as possible. Can call Janeen Jackson for more information. This boy has not had a lot of time for evaluation but he has shown such good qualities to date. Www.JCLDR.com online and fill out the proper form if interested. No one is obligated by filling out our applications but it is a good start to see if you and he match.

Flanary is a happy go lucky Irish type personality.. Full of fun and cooperation. This dog will go out fully vetted an and neutered prior to official adoption. He was a stray and a Good Samaritan lady picked him up on the streets and took him home and this boy was a good find. We have aged him and are pretty sure he is somewhere between a year and a half to two years old as of Aug 2024 Likely in between those two. He shows that he has had some care and training in the past. He has a wonderful temperament so far. Remember though that he has not been in the temp foster care home for very long. Just a little over a week so we will share all we know but he is evolving. We are impressed by all we have seen so far. Her husband does not want another in the household so we are looking for a foster or foster with intent to adopt.. or a serious adopter. If you wish to foster please call Janeen 406-323-3519 to find out how this process works. We need solid commitment. What we will share now is what we do know in this short span of rescue time. Toddlers we are going to say no to. He is a big boy with a lot of steam and young so while he showed enthusiasm and good manners with a 12 year old.. and seemed very pleased to be with her. We are going to say Older dog respectful children. No leash reactivity with other dogs when he is being exercised. If a dog reacts to his handler in a rude way, he shows intent to get protective, restrained and respectfully not aggressive in any way. He has shown good judgement so far with everyone and every new experience. Everyone that meets him loves him so far. He is in a home with 5 cats, he shows no intent to chase. Since he is not allowed inside by the husband we cannot say whether he is house broke, for he spends all of his time outside. We do not want him to be a yard dogs permanently. He does ask to come in. He does look at the cats through the window but no reaction. Full disclosure here. He is fed twice a day with Taste of the Wild, Pacific Stream and he is doing well on it. We do not know if he is crate broke. JCLDR can help with any behavior and training necessary as usual. On leash he is a little bit of a leash puller like most Catahoulas. He isn’t extreme. He is the old large style of Catahoulas. He was good when he went to the veterinarians for the first time with the strange new lady that had him on leash. All the staff loved him and no one to date has not loved him. He just shines as Mr. Personality. It is his bag. He likes some toys but he is like most Catahoulas.. he is not a retriever.. it is catch me if you can. It is game on. He was given a bath right away with a hose and he said.. so what? No big deal. He seems to like riding in the car and traveled nicely and very relaxed. He is just a great dog. He also runs with his foster mom twice a day and is learning the ropes of the routine and rhythm. He is not an excessive barker or heavy digger. He alerts on the bark but corrected he accepts most everything so far.

HISTORY: Stray found on the streets of Stockton and needed someone to take him home. And he shows some appreciation so far. We know nothing else noteworthy. He has been vetted and has a follow up so will not be officially till after the next appointment which is this coming Sat.

There is no bad nor ugly so far regarding this dog. He does focus and some call it stubborn but the working breeds do that, all of them he does try to read people and the situation but is very outgoing.. extremely so.. we do not know anything about his house manners nor whether he is house broken nor how he is with a crate because he is not allowed in the home due to the cats. But Janeen will help with any behavior issues as always,
