Meet Finn & Gizmo
Finn and Gizmo are handsome young guys looking for their “furever” home. Their original owners in Texas surrendered them to a shelter for euthanasia because the dogs were sick. Shelter records indicate that they were suspected of having Parvo, both dogs had superficial wounds on their legs, and Gizmo had an old leg fracture, possibly from a car accident. The shelter tested them and they were negative for the Parvo virus, they treated their leg wounds, gave them their vaccinations, and neutered them. Instead of euthanizing them, the shelter found a Colorado rescue to take them in. The Colorado rescue cared for them in a foster home and found them an adoptive home. Unfortunately, they were returned after only 4 days because of their exuberant puppy energy, but by then another dog was in their foster home and there was no room for them in the rescue. The rescue reached out to see if we could take the boys, and we said yes.
Finn and Gizmo are Mini Schnauzer mixes. They are tall for Minis, but only weigh 22 and 23 pounds. They are about 1 year, 8 months old, so they are fully grown. They are very well crate trained, but we aren’t sure yet how well house trained they are. The previous foster was walking them separately because they can rile each other up when they walk together. After all the chaos in their young lives, they still have a lot of puppy energy, and don’t know a lot of basic commands. They really want approval and affection, and are very food motivated, so we are working on those basic commands. They are VERY bonded. We think that they would do best with active adults who are experienced with terriers, and who are willing to work with these adorable boys. Fenced yard preferred. They will be great companions with some training, and potentially good hiking or running buddies.
Finn and Gizmo are neutered, up to date on vaccinations (rabies, distemper and kennel cough), vet checked, heartworm tested negative and on preventative while in rescue, and are microchipped.
