Meet Finn
Finn is as cute as button! Unfortunately, he is another case where he was placed on the euthanasia list without really ever having a chance to be adopted. A do-gooder saw him and just couldn't get him out of her mind, so she pulled him from the shelter just in the nick of time, and she fostered him until she could get a hold of a rescue that would take on heartworm positive dog. Enter Castaways! He starts heartworm treatment on April 15, 2023, and thank fully he is not symptomatic which indicates it is early onset heartworm disease. Finn loves his toys, and he loves talking walks on his leash. He would make a great companion dog or an addition to home a with another dog.

Adopter requirements for Finn: Finn is probably not a good fit for a household with kids. He is also heartworm positive, so whoever adopts him may need to travel to our veterinary clinic for his remaining appointments. The rescue pays for these treatments, so it is nothing out of pocket for the adopter.
Vetting: All of our dogs are microchipped and UTD on vaccines: Distemper-Parvo w/Lepto, Bordetella, and Rabies (if age appropriate). They receive monthly flea/heartworm prevention while in our care and receive fecal and heartworm testing. Most of our dogs are de-wormed at least twice unless we receive negative fecal results. They are spayed or neutered or pending a spay or neuter (unless age or a health condition precludes this).

Foster-to-Adopt Program: All of our dogs are available to foster prior to adoption. This means the dog can stay are you now instead of waiting! During this time, Castaways will continue to provide remaining medical vetting and any supplies you might need!
