Foster Home Feedback

4/20/2025 Foster Feedback: Figaro has been staying with us for roughly 2 weeks, and let me tell you about how absolutely wonderful he has been. We'll start with some of the things he needs to work on....so we can end with ALL the positives.
Hi all,
My name is Figgy but my foster mom calls me by a couple names. Here are my favorite two Big foot (my feet are HUGE) and big boy.
I still get really excited to see other dogs. I just want to be friends, but foster mom says I can be loud about it, and we are working on that, and I'm getting better every day. Slow introductions are good. My foster sister and I get along very well, it just took a little time for us to get used to each other. I am very submissive, so I listen when my foster sister tells me no more.
I can get excited on walks and pull, but I'm easily redirected with treats and pets. So, walks are getting better.
I get so super excited about treats that sometimes I forget my manners and don't take as gentle as I should. My foster family and I are working on that too.
Ok, so here are the amazing things about me that make my foster family love me to pieces.
I'm an excellent work partner for my foster mom who works remotely. I just lie on my bed (or hers) and sleep when she works, so I can have all the cool things she buys me. When she's on conference calls, I'm a complete gentleman and don't bark at all.
I do not bark at people coming in and out of the house. I just go check them out to make sure they don't have treats. I'm very polite when we have company.
When my people are eating, I sit patiently at their feet in hopes maybe just maybe someone will drop some food for me to clean up because I'm very helpful like that.
I know a few tricks, and my foster dad is working on teaching me more. So far I've got sit, shake, lay down, and the new one we are working on is speak. I catch on really fast because my foster sister shows me how to do the tricks first.
My absolute favorite thing to do is to get love from my humans. I pretty much follow my foster mom around all day, just waiting for a pet or a good cuddle on the couch. That is my FAVORITE. I will lay with my foster mom for as long as she'll let me. My favorite place to sleep is on her. Sometimes she has to remind me I'm not a lap dog, but all I want is to be loved, so it's hard sometimes.
My foster mom would also like me to point out that I have only chewed on my toys and nothing I shouldn't have. Well, I did try a Starbucks drink this weekend, but it had cold foam on it, and I thought it was a pup cup so foster mom said she understood my mistake.
Oh, and one more positive, I've mastered the doggie door! Not that it's needed. I'm very good at letting you know when I have to go outside.
I'm just a chill guy looking for someone to give me all the love.
Love, Figaro
3/25/2025 Volunteer Feedback: Figaro was a very good boy on shift this morning. Very excited to get out for his morning walk, but as soon as we got outside he calmed down immediately. Figaro was so happy to be out in the sun & fresh air. Little to no pulling on his walk, loose leash pretty much the entire time. It was a very nice stroll, taking in all the sniffs he could while checking in every so often with me, asking nicely for a well deserved treat. It's been said that outside of the shelter building he's wonderful. I can absolutely believe that. Figaro just wants snuggles, love & attention.
3/13/25 Volunteer Feedback:
Figargo is very nervous at the shelter, he has a hard time being still but he is working on it. He's a very smart boy and picks up on training quickly. Figaro loves car rides, brain games, destroying toys, and peanut butter. Figaro is a gentleman around people while they are eating and quickly lays down.
1/21/2025 Foster Home Feedback: Sweet Figaro has everyone wrapped around his paw. He continues to be the perfect house guest respecting adults and children. Figaro knows how to "come", "stay", "not your stuff" and "leave it" We continue training for loose leash walking, and passing other dogs respectfully. Figaro is an eager learner and making great progress! Fig loves a day full of activities, but also embraces a day inside on the couch. He tends to get bored but is gracious enough to accept distracting treats or toys. This boy loves a good squeaky toy, and loves to destroy anything soft (but quickly sets it down if asked). If you are looking for a lovable lab, come and meet this sweet boy! His brown eyes will have you melting, and you will miss the beat of his happy tail as soon as you start to walk away.
12/13/24 Foster Feedback: Figaro has been working hard to learn manners and respect the house rules. He's getting really good at respecting "no," "down," and "drop it," and loves to go for walks with our other dog.
This boy is curious! His nose is always to the ground when he's outside, and he tends to find trouble if he's bored.
Figaro loves to snuggle and relax! He is incredibly gentle with our small children, and we haven't heard him bark more than once or twice. He would be a perfect addition to your family!
11/28/24 Foster Feedback: Figaro has been relaxing and enjoying the comforts of home. He is curious but rarely barks indoors (unless the cat is taunting him from the stairway gate). We are working on leash manners, as he continues to pull and wander off-course. Walking in tandem with our older, more experienced dog has helped, as has a front-hook harness. Figaro has bouts of tremendous energy and loves a good puzzle. This sweet boy is very smart! His eyes are expressive, and his snuggles will melt your heart. He is calm and gentle with my small children, and respects "no!" as well as "drop it" and "down." Figaro would be a perfect addition to your family!
10/26/2024 Foster Feedback: Figaro is a bundle of joy! He is always excited to see a new face and really wants to play with other dogs. He is strong, and would love a big yard to run and sniff everything! His energy is infectious. It's hard not to love this goofy love bug!Click here to watch a video of Figaro. To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org
