Meet Felix
We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog.
Felix - also known as Lucky, is a 2.5 year old, neutered male labrador mix, 66 pounds. Felix is in a foster home in the Houston, TEXAS area and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up.
There's a saying in rescue, never name a dog "Lucky" but this boy embodies the definition of the word. His foster watched her neighbor shoot and kill 2 of his siblings and stepped in before the rest of the family could become victims, too. He is in the same home as Jack Nicholas and Jessa.
Felix clearly did not have the best home prior to being rescued but he's never let that deter his happy-go-Lucky spirit. He's very affectionate and eager to please, and loves having a family who treats him well. He's great with other dogs - living with 11!! - and hasn't displayed any issues.
Lucky is fully house and crate trained, taking his meals in his kennel not because he resource guards but as a general rule of his foster. He is quiet and settles in his kennel, waiting patiently for hours until his Pawrents return and let him out to play. He's not had any accidents in the house but his new furever home should understand regression is normal and may occur.
Felix is a fairly active guy, loving to run and play, romp and roam. He'd appreciate a canine sibling to play with, and to be part of activities including walks (he's used to getting up to 5 short walks a day), runs or jogs, and adventures like the hardware store, coffee, hikes, or just a day at daycare. His foster describes Lucky as having the best personality, and says he's not only beautiful but incredibly loving. Whoever adopts him will be winning the doggo lottery. :)
We do not have any history with cats, but he has been around older kids done well. In general, we recommend homes with kids who are old enough to understand and respect animal behavior cues. Felix is an active boy, so he would love to have two-legged siblings to chase him around the yard but we would advise no kids under 5-6yrs old initially.
***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. ***
