Meet Fawn
******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************
We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog.
Fawn, 1 year 8 month, spayed female, boxer mix, 40 pounds. Fawn is in a foster home in Burien, Washington and is ready for meet and greets! She made the trek up from Texas.
Fawn is an active, energetic young lady who loves every dog she meets. Like all boxers, she has little sense of personal space and is adamant about giving (and receiving) affection, always very playful and offering kisses when coming up for sniffs. When she first sees you, Fawn is a full-on wigglebutt! She's never met a stranger and is eager to please.
She is currently sharing a foster home with a male Husky mix and she adores him. She has really helped him to be more confident which has been so wonderful. She is such a happy girl!
Fawn is still learning leash manners, so initially she is all over the place when going for walks. With routine, however, she really settles down and does much better, not pulling. She has done wonderful walking with a ten year old!
Straight out of the crate, Fawn is very excited and rambunctious, spinning and jumping. She has a fair amount of energy and would do best in a home where she can get regular exercise through runs/walks, hikes, or doggy daycare, etc.
Fawn appears house trained, as she was previously owned before being surrendered to the animal shelter. Her kennel was always kept neat and tidy but, due to the nature of shelter life, she was not able to be walked consistently to relieve herself. Once back in a home environment, Fawn does settle into a routine and is able to wait.
She has met kids 10 years and older. Fawn is a fairly energetic gal and could inadvertently knock over a small child so we would recommend a home with kids 10 years or older, or those who can understand and will respect animal behavior cues. We'd also suggest a family who doesn't mind - or is willing to correct - her lack of personal space and jumping.
Fawn does not appear to have any observed issues with resource guarding toys, treats or bones, or food. At least initially when bringing home a new dog, we recommend feeding dogs separate from one another to prevent any potential issues with resource guarding. Feeding in the crate is an awesome way to positively associate the crate as a "happy" place and reduce any unwanted or negative behaviors.
***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. ***
