Meet Fargo/Farley
He would play fetch with his chuck-it all day long!
Farley is close to 3 years old which means, yes, he is another COVID shepherd. We seem to be collecting those here...Farley has some fear-based reactivity on leash to people and other dogs. He lives in a doggie daycare and is eager to make friends off leash. His on-leash manners are being rehabilitated while he is with us and he is doing STELLAR.
Farley has somewhat of a mystery history. He has been owned by at least five, now six, people in his short life. He was born and lived in TX until his first owner was arrested. I have NO idea how he ended up in Maine--honestly it's very sad and scary how dogs can so easily fall through the cracks--but we weren't about to let that happen! Farley was going to be surrendered to a local Maine shelter and would have been euthanized for his leash reactivity.
Farley has had no issue meeting people here, off leash, or on, and has had amazing interactions with cats too!
We have no clue if he has ever been around children, but based on his incredible temperament overall, children would be a possibility for him in his new home.
His last owner was very physically abusive, and this makes Farley weary of quick movements and sometimes shy when getting to know men. He will not react with teeth, but instead cower and cry and shut down if he is afraid. He is not used to a kind and gentle home and we are showing him how to navigate it all.
His ideal family will be open to working with Shannon (CCPDT) at no cost to help acclimate him to his new life. While not a requirement, she is always eager to help set up these pups for success in the real world! He has, so far, been the second easiest death-row shepherd we have taken in.
Don't miss out on this FORMERLY chonky boi!
An approved application is the first step to meeting any available animals.
