Meet Eve
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Eve is a 1 year old Maltese mix weighing around 10 pounds. She is very sweet and craves attention, closeness, and constant companionship. And because wants so much closeness she is like glue to your feet that you have to watch not to step on her!
She likes to follow people around the house and is content to lay next to them, but if they get up to walk around, she is right by their side. Or if the person relocated too fast for her to notice, she explores each room looking for where she went. There is a clich that if you own a dog, you are never alone when you go to the bathroom and that is very true of Eve who will want to be there with you too.
Once Eve picks her person, she bonds quickly to her. The foster family noticed she wants to stick to her favorite individual wherever she goes, and if that person is not available then her next favorite person is who she wants.
When the foster mother works from home Eve positions herself on the floor near her computer chair/feet or dog bed next to her computer desk settling in for the online meetings. She also loves laps if she can find one available to sit on. Eve will go outside with the family dog but wants to come back in as soon as "her person" goes inside.
Eve will be fine as the only dog in the house or living with another dog. Her focus is people -- not dogs -- so may not be a playmate for a dog sibling but would get along with him/her. She adapted immediately to her foster homes with other dogs and based on the evaluation by her fosters she will fit in well with a family where she will be assured to get her share of attention.
Eve is primarily a just-be-near-human dog. The fosters have not seen her having any interest in playing with dog toys. She is learning to walk on a leash a bit better as long as the walk means she can continue to be with her person.
She has some separation anxiety. When her foster family leaves the house, they put Eve in a crate to help her feel secure. They noticed she gets anxious when they leave such as whining and shaking. Sometimes she will settle down in a few minutes and go to sleep but other times she will continue to make noises the entire time. Eve has had a lot of changes recently so being left alone makes her a bit nervous.
Eve's adoption fee is $600. This dog comes microchipped, spayed, up to date on all necessary vaccines/rabies shots, and heartworm tested. She is currently being fostered in the Plant City/Valrico area.
The average lifespan for this small breed is 15 years. Therefore, Eve's adopter will need to be prepared to care for her for around 14 more years so she will not have to move to a different home again.
