Meet Elmer & Fudd! This charming duo was saved from death row with one week left before euthanasia. The two of them are absolutely bonded, so we will not be considering separation. While both boys are sweet, affectionate, non-destructive couch potatoes for the most part, they still have their own unique little personalities. Here's what their foster has to say...

Elmer (Mastiff x):

Likes: attention, cuddles, sleeping on a soft bed, food and treats

Dislikes: long walks, heat, watching Fudd being an attention hog, car rides

Cute quirks: will paw at you if he feels like your attention isn’t enough or wants your attention, plops his big heavy head right into you to say hello, loves to give kisses, lean into big hugs.

Elmer is a very low key gentle giant. Nothing seems to phase this big boy. He is happiest around his people relaxing while soaking in the fresh air or a good cuddle after a long day. Elmer is fine left on his own but prefers to keep an eye on his little brother, Fudd.

Overall, Elmer is excellent with other dogs, does not seem to be bothered in new surroundings, around new people, and takes everything life gives him with a relaxed attitude. He is a relaxed, low energy guy who is looking to just hangout with his people and his buddy, Fudd.

Elmer does have arthritis in the back legs/hips and is currently on joint and hip support plus pain medication as needed. Due to his size and being a middle aged/ early senior, supplementation will be ongoing.

Fudd (Dachshund x):

Likes: belly rubs, going out for walks, attention, food and treats

Dislikes: watching Elmer get all the attention, being left alone without Elmer, not being in the same room with his human (when they’re home), getting picked up

Cute quirks: when Fudd is comfortable with you, he’ll lay down between your legs belly up and sit there for hours getting pet. He is a total snuggle bug! It doesn't happen often but when he gets his little zoomies, he is a pretty funny little guy to watch.

Fudd is definitely the spunkier brother out of the two. He enjoys adventures outside, checking out what's going on in the neighbourhood and loves meeting new people.

Fudd is expressive with what he wants and definitely tries to steal the attention from anyone around willing to give him some love. He is overall a medium to low level energy but still is young enough that he enjoys getting out and about with his people. Fudd likes car rides. He gets along with other dogs but does not like to share toys/food with anyone other than Fudd. Because of this, his adopters should be vigilant when there is food or toys around new dogs and this is something that he will need some extra training work on. Fudd is much more attached to Elmer and does not like to be away from him.

Fudd has a sensitive stomach and because of this, he has been switched to a Gastro diet.

Elmer and Fudd's ideal home is a single family home with a fenced backyard where they have easy access to play outdoors. They would love a relaxed home environment where they can just enjoy being with their people.

Ideally, they would be the only pets in the home but we will consider homes with another respectful resident dog if it's the right match. Both boys can live with respectful children. We are recommending homes with no cats at this time, as Fudd is very curious and may chase cats in the home.
