Looking for a super fun, drivey dog with a quintessential cattle dog personality? Enjoy training and building a solid relationship with your dogs? Ellie may be the pup for you!

Ellie is a 1.5 year old, 35lb, spayed female ACD who will do best with an owner interested in dog training and behavior. She thrives with clarity and boundaries, so someone willing and able to maintain those is a must. She's a smart kid and knows basic commands, but will push limits to see what she can get away with!

Energy-wise Ellie is medium for the breed: she loves going for hikes and playing in the yard, but has a good off-switch in the house and can relax on a bed with her benebone after a day of fun. Games like tug and fetch are super fulfilling for her, and having those outlets for her drive go a long way in helping her feel happy and content. She's a drivey kid: super fun to train and play with!

Speaking of training, she will really thrive with someone knowledgeable who is interested in continuing to work with her. While she has exhibited reactivity in the past towards various triggers, she has made vast improvements and opts to give her focus to her handler now more often than not. Likewise, while she is a resource guarder, her behavior has been easily managed here in a training-oriented home. Relationship is huge for her, and that trust in her handler is key for her continued success.

Ellie does great with other dogs after introductions, playing well with them and communicating fairly. She loves running around the yard and wrestling with evenly matched dogs, does well coexisting with calmer ones, and even self-handicaps her play to engage appropriately with puppies. She has not been cat tested so adopters with cats will need to be close enough for a home visit. As a precaution, she will not be placed in a home with young children.

Ellie is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations and monthly preventatives. She does very well in a crate and is housetrained. Ellie is fostered in Pembroke MA and needs to meet her potential family prior to adoption to ensure it's the right fit.
