Meet Duncan!
Duncan is a 3 year old wire haired terrier mix, who weighs about 40lbs.
He was recently returned to AHR as he had too much energy and wasn't thriving in the home with small children. We think he'd do okay with older children (12+) who are able to respect his boundaries.
This sweet boy is a spirited terrier mix, his handsome looks are sure to capture your attention! Duncan is a bundle of energy and enthusiasm, always ready for an adventure or a game of fetch in the yard. When he's done, he's happy to curl up in your lap, but might prefer to not be touched... he likes his affection from afar!
Duncan has a unique personality, he thrives in an environment with clear boundaries and structure. He's looking for an experienced family who can understand and accommodate his needs. He can be bossy, so he'll need the right guidance and training.
He is currently working on training and learning how to settle down, he requires both mental and physical stimulation to keep him centered. He loves playing fetch, figuring out puppy puzzles, training and playing other games in his foster home, and thoroughly enjoys doggy day care where he goes a couple days a week and has made lots of 4-legged friends!
Duncan is looking for someone who is excited to work with him on training and understanding him. Patience, experience and consistency are keys to Duncan's success.
He thrives in the company of other dogs and would love a canine companion to play with. He prefers to rough house, so supervision and clear boundaries during play time are important.
Duncan tolerates the dog savvy cat in his foster home, but definitely prefers feline friends who can hold their own against his antics.
Duncan walks well on a leash, is fully potty trained, and knows all his basic commands. He loves exploring Maine's outdoors, and would make a great walking/hiking buddy!
