Please go to www.yvpr.org/adoptions to complete an adoption application.
YVPR does not respond to applications/inquiries originating from Petfinder. Questions about our adoption process can generally be answered by reviewing the Adoption FAQ's.

Doc is a loving and playful guy. He is a great road-trip partner looking for his "Marty" to adventure with, and an even better couch potato.

Doc may do best in a home where his forever family is willing to work with him in identifying fear-driven behaviors that he displays. His foster parents have worked extensively with a trainer to learn his triggers that come from a place of fear, and have been able to make life much more comfortable for him as a result.

Doc takes meds twice daily for his anxiety. This has been a significant improvement to his quality of life. He has overcome a lot, but still has a long way to go. Kennels have been, and likely will forever be an issue for Doc. He can be coaxed to get in one with cheese, but can get snappy.

He currently rules the laundry room to sleep in as his personal penthouse suite, and finds that much more suitable than a crate. He also has some food aggression to work on, and can react to sudden movements.

Doc is neutered and approximately 5 years old. He is also affectionately known as "handsome boy", and currently lives with two large breed dogs (mostly) in harmony. He does not live with cats, so we do not know how he would do with them. Also there are no children at the fosters home, so we do not know how he would do with them.

If you are a family willing to work with him to create an environment that feels safe for this little guy, he will be loving and gracious. Please understand that there may be an adjustment period for him due to previous trauma that he's working to overcome.

An application must be filled out and accepted before a meet can be set up. If accepted, you will hear from us within 72 hours. You will have the opportunity to ask questions before you meet the pet; an adoption may or may not happen at that time.
We do adopt outside the Yakima area IF you are able to come to Yakima to pick up your adopted pet. We do not have a kennel facility; all of our pets are in foster homes. Therefore, meets and adoptions take place at either our office or at a place chosen by the adoption coordinator.
If a pet has 'Adoption Pending' beside its name, an adoption is imminent. Please fill out an application anyway because adoptions don't always go through.
Your application will be kept on file for 30 days in case you find another pet you'd like to apply for.
Thanks for thinking adoption and Good Luck!
