Hiiiii, I’m Dixie! I’m a truly stunning young female hound dog with lots of energy and love of fun! I’m very athletic and love to play with balls and toys. I am quite hilarious tossing my toys around and leaping with abandon while I chase them! I also love stealing blankets and rugs and taking them outside through the dog door!

I am looking for a patient, knowledgeable dog-friendly home that will be tolerant with my shy demeanor and watch me blossom as time passes. I need another dog in the family to play with and help me feel more secure.

I’m very friendly and submissive with other dogs, but tend to be timid and easily startled around people. A gentle approach helps me feel more comfortable. I’m affectionate after I get to know you, and I absolutely adore ear rubs. And I am super quiet! I almost never sing the song of my people.

With my abundance of adolescent energy, I would likely be a great running companion, once trained. Or let me participate in a sport like Lure Coursing or Agility. Or take me to dog day care often!

--can climb out of chain link fences 6 feet high, solid fences needed
--house trained
--crate trained, sleeps and eats in her crate
--leash training is a work in progress
--good with young children; a 7 yr old boy can lead her around
--gentle, non-reactive with cats
--NO CHICKENS or other small animals
--submissive with other dogs, no food guarding or guarding of any kind
--a stray from Kentucky saved by a veterinarian
