Sweet Dixie has unfortunately been in and out of the shelter a few times, to no fault of her own, and we're hoping she finally gets a home to settle fully into. She was most recently returned to the shelter due to her adopter losing their job and no longer being able to care for her. Dixie is a friendly dog, but was sometimes nervous if the adopter's boyfriend came over in sunglasses and would bark until he took them off. She was not living with another dog, but did spend time around a family member's dog and did extremely well, but cannot be around cats. She is housebroken, crate trained. and never destructive in the home. She lived with a baby and an 8 year old and did very well with both. Dixie loves toys but is not destructive with them. They described her as having medium energy level and is high energy when they first get home and tried to jump up in greeting, but will listen if you tell her to stop, Dixie is such a wonderful dog and we can't wait to find her a wonderful home!

Dixie recently landed herself a foster home and she is thriving there and is ready to find her forever family! This sweet girl is house trained and has been a polite and respectful guest, making her a joy to have around.

Dixie adores kids and enjoys playing with other dogs, making her a perfect addition to a lively household. While she can be a bit shy around men, she truly flourishes with the ladies in her life, forming strong bonds with those she trusts.

Toys are her favorite pastime, and she loves to play and have fun! Dixie is looking for a loving family to call her own, where she can share her warmth and joy.

Dixie is current on shots, licensed, and microchipped. All dogs over 6 months have been heartworm tested, and all dogs are treated monthly for fleas/ticks and are on Heartworm prevention (NexGard PLUS). All pets are spayed/neutered prior to a finalized adoption. All our dogs receive a behavior assessment before being placed for adoption to determine initial behaviors towards people and other dogs in the shelter environment. Dog Adoption Fees:
Puppies – 4 months and under: $200
Adult Dogs – 5 months and over: $95
Senior Dogs (7+ years old): $50

People visiting the shelter in person or viewing animals on our website will note that all of our dogs are labeled as “Mixed Breeds” unless they have been DNA tested or are surrendered to the shelter with paperwork. Any potential breeds listed here on PetFinder are not assumed to be accurate and are merely a starting point for people to be able to search for a dog who may visually resemble a breed they are interested in. We feel that the best matches are made based on a dog’s individual personality and recommend families come meet our animals in person and/or utilize our Foster to Adopt program to see if that dog is a good fit for their home.
