Meet Diamond
I did some time at the River Rouge shelter. I was relinquished after having a litter of pups because the other pregnant female in the home and I squabbled. It was a bad situation.
Let me start by saying that I am much more beautiful in person. It is hard to capture the essence of my soft brindle coat until you meet me in person. And, just wait until you stroke my silky ears while we cuddle! I am the best at cuddles. And, playing fetch!
I am sound sensitive and a bit of an anxious dog but I know there is a special person/couple that will see past that and cherish all of the unique gifts I have to offer as a 4-legged companion. I know basic commands and have good house manners.
So, here is the nitty gritty… I hear all and would like to bring everything to your attention because you do not hear things as well as I do. I would make an excellent watch dog, alerting you to when squirrels, or other danger, is near. It takes me time to get to know and trust humans, but once I get to know you, we’ll be friends for life. A home without a lot of visitors is ideal for me. I can be apprehensive in new situations, but with your guidance, patience, and some high-value treats I know that we can do anything together. I currently live in a close-knit suburban neighborhood and it is probably a little too much for a dog like me. My best defense is going on the offense (barking) when in the back yard, when neighbors or other dogs appear so I will need help from my humans to redirect me and help build my confidence. I can be choosy about my dog pals and I like to chase cats but I do currently live with both.
I am a hoot at playing fetch and I have learned so many fun things in my foster home. Playing ball is what I like most! Chain link fence? I can hike over that easily so I need to be monitored outside or have a privacy fence. You put a cheeseburger on the ground in front of me and I will wait patiently until you say I can have it. Cheeseburgers are my favorite! No, wait. Playing fetch is my favorite. We can figure this out later.
Forever home: A quieter, adult-only home is ideal for me. I would love to be your canine security officer! When off-duty I enjoy fetch, chewing on a bone, following humans around the house, and then settle down for snuggles when the Netflix comes on. While I am not a good fit for the first-time pet parent, I do just need a special someone to take a chance on me. No electric fences, please.
Please contact wtdr2008@yahoo.com if you’re interested in making me yours.
Love, Diamond
