Detra was found as a stray and was likely abandoned. She arrived very thin and insecure. She needed coaxing to understand she was with friendly folks. She was chasing geese at a stranger's home and we now see she was likely seeking friendship because she is pure joy when with other pets. Her enthusiasm shows and she is gentle, rolling over on the ground seeking affection
She is now relaxed with our familiar faces and she is in full bloom outside the shelter environment. Loud commotion and sudden noises can spook her, but only momentarily. She shows us her happy side and her confidence has improved. She welcomes companionship once the ice is broken with strangers. Her guard is most up when she is behind a fence meeting new people as she will bark to guard off anything she doesnt know. She is slender in build and long legged. She is very playful and will fetch like a pro. She loves toys. Her smile is our favorite thing to see.

We are a rural shelter with high intakes. As a result, the shelter dogs are not guaranteed safety. We do our best but, we need help.

ADOPTION FEES APPLY- Dogs $150 - $175 Cats $90. (We are not set up for credit or debit payments.)

The shelter is open Monday thru Friday from 9 - 3 p.m. except Thursdays (closed). Saturday hours are by appt.

After hours appts can be arranged with advance notice and an approved application. We want to accommodate!
